What is tila?

The Tehachapi Independent Learning Academy offers two distinct options; a Blended program and a Classic program.

Students enrolled in the Blended program receive traditional on-campus classroom instruction in ELA, math, and science by a credentialed teacher twice a week.  Then, on Fridays they have access to optional enrichment classes that focus on STEAM lessons. Students who enroll in our Classic program work with a virtual curriculum and meet with their teacher for additional support via Zoom.  Assignments are completed at home with assistance from a parent or guardian.

TILA is specifically designed to assist parents who choose to educate their children at home. This alternative instruction program is available for students in grades K-12 and meets California Education Code requirements.  A credentialed TUSD teacher provides instruction for all students throughout the school year delivered in the format of Zoom, internet or telephone.  TILA students have access to curricular materials, Chromebooks, and computer based programs.
